Sideport Nozzles Increase Rate of Penetration and Lower Cost Per Foot
Sideport Nozzles provide a more effective solution to prevent bit balling by creating a sweeping action through the dome of the bit, thus increasing rate of penetration and lowering cost per foot.
SIDEPORTS NOZZLE TEST
GALVESTON BAY, TEXAS
A field comparison of 8 1/2 inch mill tooth bits with low HSI drilling to an average depth out of 11,500 feet shows the improved rate of penetration achieved when Sideport nozzles were used. In this case, bits with standard nozzles were used. In this case, bits with standard nozzles were used to drill the first six wells, and average just 22.5 ft/hr. Using the same bit design fitted with Sideport nozzles, the next two wells were drilled at an average ROP of 50.5 ft/hr – more than twice as fast.
